Art class is the time for children to be actively engaged in the creative process.Your child will have fun exploring new techniques, materials, skills and resources while building visual literacy and artistic appreciation.
Being an Artist is NOT about your ability to draw well. It is a creative process that we all use in different ways. An Artist may consider some or all of the following in the process of making Art.
* Concept - What is my Art work About? What am I trying to say?
* Art Form - What visual form will my artwork take? Digital, 2-D, 3-D?
* Subject matter - What subject matter will I choose to express my ideas?
* Method of representation - Will I choose a non-objective, realistic, abstract or conceptual way to address the subject matter?
* Media - What materials and technique will I use to create my work and achieve my goal?
* Composition - How will I arrange my work and use the elements of art and principles of design?
TO ACHIEVE OUR ARTISTIC GOALS and HAVE A CREATIVE AND PRODUCTIVE YEAR THE EXPECTATIONS DURING ART CLASS ARE:
Listen attentively to all directions.
Stay seated, raise your hand when you need something.
Be kind, caring and respectful to all others and materials.
We all have different ideas, likes and dislikes, respect each others differences.
Show a strong positive attitude and effort! Try the best you can.
Just keep practicing and trying. We don't always get things the first time around.
Stay on task and work quietly.
Focus on your own work. Ask questions when you need assistance.
Clean up your work space.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have three marking periods where you child will be assessed.
There are three areas of assessment for Art.
