ART VOCABULARY and LIST of terms
Elements of Art:
Line: Line can be straight, curved, zig zag, horizontal, vertical, diagonal

Shape: Shape are 2-D an area enclosed by an outline.

Shapes can be geometric: square, triangle, oval
Shapes can be organic: wiggly and free form
Texture: The surface quality; bumpy, rough, smooth (the way something feels)
Color: Primary colors (Red, Yellow, Blue)
Secondary colors (Orange, Purple, Green)
Tint is a color with white added to lighten it and example is pink.
Color mixing Red + Blue = Purple
Yellow + Red = Orange
Blue + Yellow = Green
Monochromatic: using one color and the different shades of that color
Space: Positive Space is taken up by objects
Negative Space is the empty area around an object
Form: 3-D objects such as a cube, cylinder, cone. The have height, width and length.
Value: The difference in the darkness or lightness of a color

Overlapping can be used to show depth in your art work.
When creating pottery you use clay and glaze. You can create a pinch pot out of clay or a coil pot buy using your hands. A potters wheel can also be used to mechanically turn clay more easily to make it even and smooth. It is fires in a kiln.

Abstract art is based on real objects that are not realistic. Objects may be distorted or simplified.
Mixed Media is art work created from many different materials.
Symmetry is when both sides are equal or a mirror image of itself. There can be many lines of symmetry.
